Romeo Ranjha, a Jainil Mehta Production, is a vibrant Bollywood theatrical experience inspired by the original poem Indradhanush by Yash Barot. Telling the story of Romeo falling in love with Ranjha, the production explores the many colours of love through poetry, high-energy Bollywood music, live vocals, cinematic choreography, and immersive visuals — celebrating friendship, passion, rebellion, and acceptance.

Director’s Note

Through dance, I have constantly searched for ways to reclaim softness, vulnerability, femininity, and love outside rigid ideas of masculinity.

This work exists at the intersection of queerness, storytelling, and celebration. Rather than presenting queerness only through pain or struggle, the piece embraces joy, desire, intimacy, fantasy, and community. It reimagines familiar cultural symbols, Bollywood nostalgia, and theatricality through a queer lens, allowing stories that are often invisible to take center stage.

While watching the work, I invite audiences to look beyond binaries — beyond masculine and feminine, tradition and modernity, performer and person. I hope viewers allow themselves to experience the piece emotionally before intellectually, and to see love not as something confined by gender, but as something expansive, layered, playful, rebellious, and deeply human.
